New Paoay mayor calls for unity among constituents

LAOAG CITY—The newly-installed local chief executive of Paoay has urged local residents to unite and cooperate with one another to allow smooth work transition following the dismissal of town mayor Jessie Galano and his administrator Bruno Dumlao.

By law of succession, the Department of the Interior and Local Government Unit has ordered Dr. Eileen Llaguno-Guerrero, vice mayor of Paoay town, to assume as the new mayor.

As soon as she received the order from the DILG Regional Office 1 last Thursday, Guerrero took an oath of office as the new mayor before Regional Trial Court Judge Conrado Ragucos.

In her short speech before employees of the Paoay government during the flag raising ceremony on Monday, Guerrero vowed to continue serving the people of the town to the best of her ability.

“Let’s move forward and continue to work together for the good of our town,” said Guerrero as she started her first working day as mayor.

Meanwhile, in Laoag City, officials and employees also welcomed on Monday the newly-installed vice mayor in light of the untimely demise of Vice Mayor Michael V. Fariñas.

Along with close family members, then senior City Councilor Franklin Dante Respicio took his oath of office as the new vice mayor and immediately presided over the Sangguniang Panlungsod session today. (Leilanie Adriano/PNA)
