Gov’t employee, farmer nabbed for violation of anti-drugs act

TUGUEGARAO CITY — A government employee and a farmer were arrested by the Philippine National Police (PNP) in separate anti-illegal drug operations in Cagayan province on Thursday, police said.

Police Regional Office 2 (PRO2) information officer, Superintendent Chevalier Iringan, on Friday identified the suspects as Allan Jay Luna, 32 years old, married, contractual government project support staff of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and resident of Purok 5, Carig Norte, Tuguegarao City; and Alvaro Garcia Jr., 49 years old, married, farmer and a resident of Barangay Nicolas Agatep, Lasam, Cagayan.

Investigation showed that at about 4:50 p.m. last June 21, elements of Tuguegarao City Police Station arrested Luna at the garage of room No. 5, City Court Drive Inn Motel located at Leonarda, Tuguegarao City, after selling one  piece heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected to be “shabu”.

Confiscated from the direct possession, control and custody of the suspect were one unit black Samsung cellular phone, one rubberized card holder containing assorted IDs, the buy bust money and one unit black Rusi Motorcycle.

On the same date at around 5:30 p.m., personnel of Lasam Police Station conducted checkpoint and anti-illegal drugs operation along the National Highway, Centro 2, Lasam, Cagayan that resulted in the arrest of Garcia after being caught possessing two small transparent plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu and 1 piece lighter.
