2 killed in Bulacan anti-drug war

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga  –  Two drug personalities were killed in separate operations in Bulacan past Sunday midnight as the police continue with the implementation of its intensified campaign against illegal drugs.

In a report, Senior Superintendent Chito G. Bersaluna, the provincial police director of Bulacan, identified the two drug suspects as Rolando Gante, 41, a resident of Purok 4, Santisima Trinidad, City of Malolos; and Rogelio Rosales, 22, of Barangay Batia, Bocaue town.

Both suspects were on the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) list of drug personalities.

The report said that Gante was killed in an armed encounter in Malolos City at around 12:45 a.m. Monday when he drew his gun and fired at the arresting operatives, who retaliated.

Recovered from Gante were five heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu; 12 sachets of suspected dried marijuana leaves; one caliber 22 revolver with five live ammunition; one fired cartridge; six pieces 9mm fired cartridge; one cellular phone and the marked money.

Rosales, on the other hand, was killed in an armed encounter with operatives in Pandi town.

Seized from the crime scene were four heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu; one Armscor 202; one caliber 38 revolver without serial number loaded with three fired cartridge cases and three ammunition; and one 9mm fired cartridge case.

The recovered pieces of evidence were brought to the Bulacan Provincial Crime Laboratory Office for appropriate examination. (Ric Sapnu/PNA)
