PNP-12 top performer for arrest of most wanted persons

GENERAL SANTOS CITY–The Police Regional Office (PRO)-12 has emerged as the top performer in the entire country in terms of the number of arrests made on top 10 most wanted persons for the months of April and May.

Chief Supt. Marcelo Morales, Region 12 police director, said Tuesday the region’s police units arrested a total of 121 wanted persons during the period, the highest among the 17 police regional offices.

Morales said they posted a performance rating of 132.73 percent in April for the arrest of 73 top 10 most wanted persons, and 87.7 percent in May for the capture of 48 others.

PRO-13 in Caraga Region placed second in April with a performance rating of 44.30 percent, and PRO-4A or Calabarzon in May with 54.74 percent, he said.

Morales attributed the accomplishment to intensified operations launched by local police units against wanted personalities.

“We cannot let criminals remain unpunished. For as long as they are at-large, there’s the possibility that their criminal activities will continue and victimize people,” he said in a statement.

Morales said their operatives are “working day and night” in going after wanted persons in the region.

The police official added that the campaign has been proven as a major factor in the noted decline of the region’s crime incidence in the past months.

PRO-12 earlier reported that the region’s total crime volume declined by 20 percent from January to May.

From 8,800 during the same period in 2017, the number of reported index and non-index crimes in the area has dropped to 7,060 this year. (PNA)
