GENERAL SANTOS CITY–In a bid to promote better performance and service delivery, the Police Regional Office (PRO)-12 has adopted a new recognition and incentive scheme for local police units.
Chief Supt. Marcelo Morales, Region 12 police director, said Tuesday the initiative aims to improve the performance levels as well as boost the morale of their police units and personnel.
Dubbed “Operations-Digong,” Morales said it will mainly recognize the operational accomplishments of police units on a monthly basis in partnership with non-government organizations.
Launched on Monday, “Operations-Digong” stands for Operational Performance with Excellent Results, Attaining Targets and Initiatives for Outstanding Noteworthy Services-Doing It Good to Oversee the Necessary Goals.
“Our main objective is to make excellence a habit among our units and personnel,” Morales said in a statement.
Under the project, the police official said units with the most number of operational accomplishments within a month will be recognized and given incentives.
He said it will be based on a set of criteria identified by the program’s selection committee, which includes representatives from the Rotary Clubs and the chambers of commerce in the region.
These are the anti-illegal drug campaign, anti-illegal gambling operations, implementation of Oplan Tokhang, campaign against environmental crimes, implementation of Command Memorandum Circular 05-2014 or the intensified internal security operations, implementation of special laws (other police initiated operations/one time-big time), and timely compliance on the targets set by the PRO-12 regional director.
Morales said plaques of recognition and cash incentives await units with the most number of accomplishments.
He said awards will initially cover provincial directors, city director and mobile force commanders, and will be expanded later on to the chiefs of police stations within the region’s four provinces and five cities.
Morales said the awarding rites will be held every first Monday of the month, following the PRO-12’s traditional flag-raising ceremony.
“I am certain this initiative will greatly impact our law enforcement operations as well as revitalize and refresh the knowledge, wisdom and capabilities of each personnel,” he added. (PNA)
