Antipolo drug bust leaves 2 men dead

MANILA — Two drug suspects were killed in an encounter with arresting policemen in Antipolo City, Rizal Tuesday.

In a report to the Philippine National Police Regional Office 4-A, the Antipolo police reported the deaths of one alias “Jelo Parane” and his unidentified companion.

Personnel from local drug enforcement unit conducted a buy-bust operation at Sitio Hinapao, Barangay San Jose which resulted to a shootout after the suspects sensed that they are dealing with authorities.

Parane was said to have eluded arrest when police tried to implement a search warrant on May 30 this year at Sitio Tawi-Tawi, Barangay San Andres, Cainta, Rizal.

The police said Parane is the right hand of Jun Calumpiano who is the primary target of the search warrant.

Recovered from the slain suspects include 10 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu with an estimated street value of PHP50,000, two caliber .38 revolvers, PHP1,000 bill used as marked money and undetermined amount of cash in different denominations. (Benjamin Pulta/PNA)
