Monsoon rains over parts of PH Saturday

MANILA — Some areas of the country will experience monsoon rains as the southwest monsoon affects the western part of the archipelago, the state weather bureau said Saturday.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the low-pressure area (LPA) it is tracking was last eyed at 460 km. east of Guiuan, eastern Samar.

Monsoon rains will prevail over western Visayas, Palawan, Mindoro, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, and Batangas.

The southwest monsoon and the trough of the LPA will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Bicol, Eastern Visayas, Bulacan, Pampanga, Laguna, Rizal, and Quezon.

The rest of the country, on the other hand, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with rain showers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, moderate to occasionally strong winds will prevail over the whole country with rough to occasionally rough seas, PAGASA said. (Ma. Cristina Arayata/PNA)
