TD ‘Josie’, southwest monsoon to bring rains over Luzon, Visayas

MANILA — Tropical depression “Josie” and the southwest monsoon it enhances will continue to bring rains over Luzon and Visayas, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Sunday.

“Josie” was last eyed at 140 kilometers north northeast of Calayan, Cagayan. It has a maximum sustained winds of up to 60 kph near the center, and gustiness of up to 80 kph, heading northeast at 35 kph.

Batanes and northern Cagayan including Babuyan Group of Islands will have rains with gusty winds brought by “Josie”.

Monsoon rains will prevail over Metro Manila, central Luzon, Ilocos, Codillera Administrative Region, rest of Cagayan Valley Region, provinces of Mindoro, Rizal, Cavite and Batangas.

The southwest monsoon will also bring occasional rains over Visayas and the rest of Luzon.

Mindanao will have will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, gale winds will blow over northern Luzon and the western part of central Luzon. Coastal waters along these areas will be rough to very rough.

Elsewhere, winds will be moderate to strong with moderate to rough seas, PAGASA said. (PNA)
