MANILA – Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go on Saturday lauded the efforts of “force multipliers” or anti-crime volunteers, which include village watchmen (barangay tanods) and barangay police, in suppressing crimes and addressing peace and order issues in their communities.
Go was warmly received by anti-crime volunteers at the Philippine National Police National Headquarters in Camp Crame led by PNP Chief Police Director General Oscar Albayalde, during the 23rd Police Community Relations Grand Celebration, where the presidential assistant served as guest of honor.
“I commend the members of National Coalition of Force Multipliers and Advocacy Groups. Your commitment and willingness to assist the PNP and the government in protecting the citizenry and deterring crime is both admirable and noteworthy,” Go said in his speech.
Go likewise acknowledged the achievements of the PNP Police Community Relations Group (PCRG) under Police Senior Supt. Rhodel Seremonia “for championing harmonious relationships with our community.”
“May you continue to work with our students, professionals, private sector, volunteer groups and other stakeholders in building safer and peaceful communities where our people can comfortably live and do business,” Go added, as he urged the PNP and the force multiplier groups to continue working together.
“Walang duda, malaking nagawa ang inyong grupo sa pagbaba ng crime rate (Your actions doubtlessly helped reduce the crime rate),” he added.
In his speech, Go vowed to work for the formal accreditation of anti-crime volunteers by giving them identification cards.
“Pwede po natin i-propose na bigyan po kayo ng I.D. para po for identification wag po natin gamitin sa abuso, gagamitin po natin ito sa kampanya laban sa droga at pati po sa peace and order (I could propose that you would all be given IDs, but let’s not abuse it, let’s use it in our campaign against drugs and to uphold peace and order),” he added.
