MANILA — Sea travel was suspended in parts of Luzon and the Visayas due to bad weather caused by tropical depression ‘Josie’.
In an advisory, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said 321 passengers, three sea vessels, five motor bancas and four rolling cargoes were stranded in various ports of Palawan, Batangas, Camarines Sur, Iloilo and Antique provinces as of 4 a.m. Monday.
All Coast Guard units are advised to ensure strict implementation of a memorandum circular on the movement of vessels during heavy rains.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the southwest monsoon will continue to bring scattered to widespread monsoon rains over Ilocos Region, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Mindoro, Palawan, and Western Visayas, as ‘Josie’ moves northwestward towards northeastern Taiwan.
