PH cyclists to compete in China, Kazakhstan

MANILA, July 21 — The 7-Eleven Road Bike Philippines team arrived on Friday after competing in the 2017 Tour de Flores in Indonesia.

The team finished second overall, while Marcelo Felipe placed third in the General Classification category and was named best rider from Southeast Asia.

In an interview with government station Sports Radio upon their arrival, 7-Eleven RBP director Ric Rodriguez said Felipe, Rustom Lim and Dominic Perez are scheduled to leave next week for China and Kazakhstan as part of their training for the Southeast Asian Games, to be held on Aug. 19-30 in Malaysia.

After the SEA Games, the three Filipino cyclists will return to the 7-Eleven squad, which also has foreign riders in its line-up.

Meanwhile, Rodriguez said the team is thinking of giving up one of three major international tournaments next year. The three tournaments are Herald Sun Tour, Le Tour de Langkawi and Hors Category Tour of Indonesia. (Jean T. Malanum/PNA)
