Over 300 Nueva Ecija policemen undergo surprise drug test

CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija — More than 300 ranking police officers and anti-illegal drug operatives here on Monday underwent a surprise drug testing at the Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office (NEPPO).

Senior Supt. Eliseo Tanding, NEPPO director, said the policemen including chiefs of police and their deputies, and elements of the so-called drug enforcement units from the province’s five cities and 27 municipalities, were tested to make sure no one is engaged in drug use.

The activity, he said, was inspired by President Rodrigo Duterte’s declaration of a “relentless and chilling” anti-drug campaign during his recent State of the Nation Address.

Tanding said one policeman in Gapan City, whom he did not identify, is now the subject of further investigation after he tested positive of drug use sometime in June.

“We have the due process,” Tanding said, adding that those who will fail the test shall face appropriate charges.
