Comelec bids out ballot paper, marking pens for 2019 polls

MANILA — As part of the preparations for the May 13, 2019 national and local polls, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has released the invitation to bid for the procurement of ballot paper and marking pens worth more than PHP150 million.

According to the Comelec Bids and Awards Committee (BAC), the project has an approved budget of the contract (ABC) amounting to PHP150,816,852.

Included in the contract is the procurement of 2,610 rolls of ballot paper for PHP125.2 million or PHP48,000 per roll, as well as 1,168,200 pieces of marking pens for PHP25.5 million or PHP21.86 per piece.

The poll body warned that those that will bid more than the allocated amount will be automatically dismissed.

“Bids received in excess of the ABC shall be automatically rejected at bid opening,” the committee added.

The complete set of bidding documents is available at the 4th Floor of the Shipping Center Bldg. in Intramuros, Manila.

Bidders will have to pay a non-refundable fee of PHP50,000 for them to acquire the documents.

The submission and receipt of bids will be at the Comelec-EBAD Conference Room located at the Palacio del Gobernador Building in Intramuros, Manila, at 9 a.m. on August 23.
