DAVAO CITY –- Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Secretary Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go on Saturday said he is more inspired to work for Filipinos following the result of a Davao survey showing him as the top choice for the Senate in the 2019 midterm elections.

“Sayo pa kaayo. Pero daghan salamat sa pagsalig nako (It’s still very early. But thank you for trusting me), for trusting President Rodrigo Duterte and Mayor Sara (Duterte),” Go said in an interview on the sidelines of the Bancarea event at Times Beach on Saturday here.

Go said the survey result was encouraging and inspiring to work harder for the people.

“Di ako politico (I am not a politician). I am happy with what I am doing now,” he said.

“Bahala na kung ano ang gusto ni President Duterte (It is up to President Duterte what he wants for me),” he said.

The presidential assistant is also listed in the line-up of the Hugpong ng Pagbabago for senatorial candidates.

Go topped the list in the senatorial survey conducted by the University of Mindanao-Institute of Popular Opinion (UM-IPO), followed by former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Ronald dela Rosa, who is former chief of police in Davao.

The two topped the choices for the senatorial race followed by incumbent Senator Grace Poe, Rep. Pia Cayetano, Senators Sonny Angara and Koko Pimentel, Neri Colmenares, Sec. Francis Tolentino, Senators JV Ejercito, Cynthia Villar and Nancy Binay.

Dr. Maria Linda B. Arquiza, assistant vice president for Research and Publication Center of UM-IPO, said the survey was conducted among 1,200 respondents in Davao City from July 13 to 18.

The survey used three percent margin of error and employed multi-stage cluster sampling. (Lilian Mellejor/PNA)
