PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan — A mass donning of ranks and oath-taking ceremony here saw 56 personnel of the city police receiving their new rank pins on Monday.

Senior Supt. Ronnie Francis Cariaga, director of the Puerto Princesa City Police Office (PPCPO), led the pinning and donning of the pins on them at the PPCPO headquarters in Barangay San Pedro.

Cariaga said promotion to the next higher rank for the 56 personnel came in July, but the donning and pinning was only scheduled this month.

Of the total, only one is a commissioned officer and the rest non-commissioned. Twelve were promoted to Senior Police Officer 2; 40 to Police Officer 3, and three to Police Officer 2.

“Their promotion is an added responsibility. It’s important that they show our community that they are worthy of the one rank higher they received,” Cariaga said, adding it calls for “great responsibility”.

Cariaga said the three requirements for the promotion of the police officers are “training, eligibility, and time and grade.”

He encouraged the promoted police officers to do their duties faithfully in serving the country and the people, and to avoid being involved in illegal activities.

“I hope they don’t commit any irregularity, and will just do their job to their utmost ability. While in service, they should do right. What they are doing is not only for them but also for their families,” he said. (Celeste Anna Formoso/PNA)
