American nabbed for Aussie trader’s slay in Pasig condo

MANILA — Police arrested on Thursday a 58-year-old American suspected of killing an Australian businessman reportedly over outstanding unpaid debts in Pasig City.

Police found the suspect Kenneth Domell Bethea at the basement parking of One Oasis Condominium, Santa Lucia, Pasig City around 5 p.m. Bethea climbed on the hood of a vehicle, tied a rope around his neck and threatened to hang himself when policemen tried to approach him.

Lawmen managed to restrain and arrest Bethea when the suspect jumped off the vehicle and the rope snapped.

Bethea is the principal suspect in the killing of Australian Lambros Zervas on Wednesday (Aug. 28) afternoon.

He was seen in the security camera footage as the last person who came out of the office of Lily Carpet Cleaning Services at Bldg. L, of One Oasis Hub A, located in the same condominium, where the victim also resides.

The incident was discovered by Diosdado Gregorio when Zervas’ wife, Rocelyn Zervas, instructed Gregorio to check up on the victim.

Gregorio, an employee of Zervas, saw the victim slumped and bloodied on the floor with several multiple stab wounds on the body.

The victim was brought to Pasig City General Hospital by responding police officers but was declared dead by Dr. Victor Borlaza at around 7:45 p.m. of the same day. (Benjamin Pulta/PNA)
