ILOILO CITY — The city government here is doing an inventory of all its properties, starting with public plazas, but will also cover other real properties in preparation for future development.
Lawyer Hernando Galvez, city administrator, on Friday said the inventory should have been conducted long ago because for now, the city government does not have in its possession original titles some of its properties. Others are only covered by a deed of donation and were not transferred to the city government or they lack document of acceptance.
“We will help so definitively we can identify the properties of the city government, what buildings can still be utilized because a lot of our offices still need spaces,” he said.
The list of city properties is supposed to be controlled by the General Services Office (GSO) but Galvez said his office is also helping in the physical inspection.
He added that the city government has a property in Jaro district that intended to utilize for a project but during the course of the implementation, it was discovered that a building was standing on the site.
The city also has properties in Molo district but the documents are not readily available.
“We need to have full access, information for future development,” Galvez stated.
Right now, he said, they still don’t know of all the properties of the city, so he could not state the percentage of the city’s assets that have been recorded. (Perla Lena/PNA)
