Ylagan’s cold-blooded charities lift Perpetual against San Sebastian’s late rally for 2nd win

Genmar Ylagan’s cold-blooded free throws were the key to help Perpetual escape with a close 68-65 win against the late-game rally of San Sebastian in the NCAA Season 93 at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan Arena.

Ylagan started his end-game composure by knocking down the first two crucial free throws to give the Altas a more comfortable 4-point lead on the remaining 8.8 seconds of the ball game.

San Sebastian’s Allyn Bulanadi, however, quickly responded with a controversial triple to close the gap within one point at 66-65. But another Ylagan down-the-wire consistent free throws gave the UPHSD a safe 3-point lead to seal the game.

“Iniisip ko lang, kailangan lang i-shoot ko to kasi kapag na-miss ko, may chance kaming matalo. Syempre, ayokong matalo,” Ylagan said in the post-game presser.

With the help of Ylagan’ perfect six out of six from the free throw line, Perpetual showcased an impressive 67.65% accuracy, compared to Stags’ poorer 47.37%.

“Syempre masarap sa pakiramdam kasi ang hirap manalo. Pag nakuha mo yung panalong pinaghirapan mo, sobrang sarap,” Ylagan cheerfully said.

Ylagan spearheaded the Perpetual’s second win in the season through his 15 points, together win his 3 out of 4 shooting from beyond the arc.

UPHSD’s reinforcement Prince Eze contributed a double-double performance with his 12 markers and 13 boards. Jeff Coronel also chipped 10 points, while Jonathan Yuhico gave 9 points.

Perpetual improved to a 2-2 win-loss record while the San Sebastian dropped to 1-3. | Tretch Melarpes – PTV News
