Isolated rain showers over PH on Tuesday

MANILA — The whole archipelago will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms until Tuesday afternoon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

The weather bureau said there may be flashfloods and landslides due to scattered light to moderate to at times heavy rains in the country.

As of 4 a.m. Tuesday, PAGASA last observed Typhoon Paeng at 740 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes.

“Paeng” has a maximum sustained winds of 200 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center, and gustiness of up to 240 kph, heading west northwest at 10 kph.

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected in the Western Visayas, Zamboanga peninsula, Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, and Soccsksargen due to the trough of the typhoon.

Moderate to strong winds will blow over the eastern section of the country. Coastal waters along this area will be moderate to rough.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas. (Ma. Cristina Arayata/PNA)
