Biz scion killed, 2 women nabbed in Nueva Ecija drug bust

GAPAN CITY, Nueva Ecija — A 36-year-old scion of a Chinese-Filipino businessman from Cabanatuan City was killed while his two female companions were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay San Roque here at about 1 a.m. on Tuesday.

Lloyd Ang, whose mother owns a supermarket in Cabanatuan City, reportedly fired a caliber .45 pistol at the police after a 2-km. chase, police said.

Supt. Peter Madria, city police chief, said Ang boarded his pickup truck (VQ 8993) and fled towards the south right after handing over a sachet of suspected “shabu” and getting the marked money from an undercover police officer.

The lawmen gave him a chase and fired at the pickup’s tires but the suspect continued driving until two of the vehicle’s tires burst.

At this juncture, Madria said, the suspect drew a handgun and fired. No one was hit among the operatives.

The policemen fired back at the suspect, hitting him in different parts of his body, killing him instantly.

The buy-bust operation, which yielded eight sachets of suspected shabu and the gun, was conducted by elements of the provincial counterintelligence special operation unit of the Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office.

Arrested were Ruby Dasig, 48, of Sta. Rosa town, Nueva Ecija and Carolina Lapina, 48, of Barangay Accfa, Cabanatuan City.

The women, who both admitted in a media interview Sunday to have used drugs, were on board a separate vehicle tailing Ang.

Dasig said they met Ang in the area to advise him to stop his alleged illegal activities after a brother of Lapina had gone missing for days. (Marilyn Galang/PNA)
