Typhoon ‘Paeng’ to exit Saturday, new LPA spotted

MANILA—Typhoon “Paeng” is slowly moving outside the country but still brings rains over extreme northern Luzon.

Weather bureau Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said “Paeng” was last spotted at 695 kilometers east northeast of Basco, Batanes with maximum winds of 160 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center with gustiness of up to 195 kph.

While “Paeng” is likely to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Saturday (Sept. 29) towards Japan, PAGASA said it is monitoring a low pressure area (LPA) which may develop into a tropical cyclone.

The LPA is 3,225 kilometers east of Mindanao and may enter the PAR on October 1 or October 2 and will be named “Queenie”.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

Temperature in Metro Manila ranges 24-32 degrees Celsius; Tuguegarao City 24-32 degrees Celsius; Baguio City 16-24 degrees Celsius; Metro Cebu 25-32 degrees Celsius and Metro Davao 25-34 degrees Celsius. (Lily Ramos/PNA)
