ZAMBOANGA CITY–Local authorities will implement restrictions in certain areas during major events of the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival.
The Zamboanga Hermosa Festival will kick off on October 1, the highlight of which the feast day of Our Lady of the Pillar on October 12.
In an executive order, Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar said the restrictions will include the prohibition on parking of motorcycles, four-wheeled vehicles, bringing of backpacks, wearing of baseball caps and hooded jackets during occasions that are expected to draw huge crowds of local devotees and foreign and local visitors.
Salazar’s order also prohibits the parking of motorcycles, four-wheeled vehicles as well as the bringing of backpacks and wearing of baseball caps and jackets with hood during the following activities: Smoke Out Zamboanga-Grilled food fiesta and Zamboanga grand midnight sale from Sept. 29 to Oct. 13; 5 p.m. Novena masses from Oct. 3 to 11; Regatta de Zamboanga, October 7; Parade of Lights and UZ Grand Parade on Oct. 11; Street Dance competition and fiesta main program on Oct. 11; and the Grand Procession on Oct. 12.
The local police, in coordination with the Task Force Zamboanga, have adopted security measures to ensure the peaceful celebration of the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival.
Salazar urged the public to cooperate with the security sector for their own safety and protection.
