PIA chief says Mocha’s resignation ‘act of humility’

ILIGAN CITY –The head of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) lauded on Thursday the resignation of Presidential Communications and Operations Office (PCOO) Assistant Secretary Esther Margaux “Mocha” Uson, describing it as an act of humility.

“I believe the resignation was an act of humility on the part of Ms. Uson. After all that had happened, her action shows that she respects the President and the government,” PIA Director General Harold Clavite said in a text message.

Uson, who resigned during the Senate deliberation of PCOO’s budget on Wednesday, said she did so just to secure the agency’s 2019 allocation approval by Congress.

Clavite earlier called on the resignation of Uson, saying the latter had been the reason why the PCOO’s budget had been deferred in the Lower House.

Clavite said the deferment of the agency’s budget could affect the organization and the communities they serve, “not to mention the blunders perpetrated by her and her team that has undermined and tarnished the brand and image of the President and this Government”.

Last month, Clavite also called on Uson to take a leave of absence after her video with another blogger, Drew Oliver, drew public criticisms. (Divina Suson/PNA)
