Palace thankful as PRRD’s Q3 rating remains ‘very good’

MANILA — Malacañang on Sunday thanked the public for giving President Rodrigo Duterte a ‘very good’ satisfaction rating despite high inflation rate.

Nagpapasalamat kami sa ating mga kababayan na patuloy na nasisiyahan sa administrasyong Duterte (We thank our countrymen that they remain satisfied with Duterte administration),” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a statement.

The third quarter 2018 Social Weather Stations survey conducted on Sept. 15-23 found 65 percent of adult Filipinos satisfied, 19 percent neither satisfied nor dissatisfied, and 15 percent dissatisfied with the general performance of Duterte.

This resulted in a net satisfaction rating of +50, which the SWS classified as “very good”.

It was an 8-point decrease from the very good +58 in June 2018.

“As the survey shows, in what SWS calls its Governance Report Card, of the 14 specific subjects rated, we received the lowest rating in fighting inflation,” Roque said.

“Nonetheless, public satisfaction remains “very good” at +50 during the time when our people are feeling the hit of a faster inflation rate when the survey was conducted last September,” he added.

Regardless of the numbers, Roque assured everyone that the administration is working double time to ensure prices of basic goods become stable “as we cushion the impact of higher inflation”.

Roque said the government has taken measures including importation of rice and dismissal of officials involved in the missing thousands of sacks of rice to counter inflation. (Jelly Musico/PNA)
