Alaminos City boosts local tourism via special discounts

ALAMINOS CITY, Pangasinan — The city government encouraged Pangasinenses to visit the famous Hundred Islands National Park (HINP) by offering 50-percent discount on the registration fee and 20 percent on the government facilities starting Monday.

“(This is) through the city’s “Huwag maging dayuhan sa sariling lalawigan” (do not be a stranger in your own province) tourism campaign, and in support to the provincial government’s “Pasyar ed Pangasinan” (Tour in Pangasinan) project, which was launched this September during the National Tourism Month celebration. The objective is to showcase the beauty of the tourism spots in the province,” said Rose Arguello, assistant city tourism officer, in an interview Monday.
Arguello said the discount-promo, stipulated in Sangguniang Panlungsod Resolution No. 2018-124, will be effective for six months, or until April 2019.
“Titignan ng tourism office kung effective ba ito na paraan ng pagpo-promote ng Hundred Islands sa ating mga kababayan sa Pangasinan (The tourism office will determine if this will be effective in promoting HINP to our provincemate). We will give feedback to the Sangguniang Panlungsod on April 2019, they will decide whether to make this permanent through an ordinance,” she explained.
Arguello said one Pangasinense visitor will just pay a total of PHP55 discounted fees, which is already inclusive of the PHP10 insurance fee.
She clarified that the promo is valid only for day tours. Overnight tours are not covered by the discounts.
“The 20-percent discount on facilities applies only to tables, chairs, gazebo, zip line, among others, –only those run by the city government. It does not apply to the boat rental and other activities or facilities offered by private businesses in the islands,” she added.
Arguello said the 20-percent discount for senior citizens still applies in addition to the promo discount, while children five years old and below can avail of free registration.
Each Pangasinense visitor has to present a proof of residence in the province at the Tourism Office at the Lucap Wharf where guests or visitors are required to register to avail of the special discounts, she added. (Liwayway Yparraguirre/PNA)
