Cavite upland village chief shot dead

SILANG, Cavite – A barangay (village) chief was gunned down while attending an evening program at a covered court here at about 10 p.m. Tuesday.

Chief Insp. Resty Soriano, Silang police chief, said two unidentified gunmen shot Yakal village chief, Naldie Neri Secretario, at close range and wounded three others during the chaos.

Secretario succumbed to several gunshot wounds in various parts of his body while three other persons sustained minor gunshot wounds, Soriano said.

The suspects fled towards an unknown direction using a motorcycle, he said.

Secretario and the three other victims were rushed to the Asia Medic Hospital here, but the village chief was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician.
