IACTulong skills training program launched in Pangasinan

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) allotted 1,000 slots of vocational or short-term courses for Pangasinenses in the 1st District of Pangasinan, through the “IACTulong sa Pangasinan”.

Pangasinan Public Employment and Services Officer Alex Ferrer, in an interview Friday, said the IACTulong sa Pangasinan is a skills training program of the provincial government and Inter-Agency Council for Traffic (I-ACT), chaired by Department of Transportation (DOTr) Undersecretary Thomas “Tim” Orbos and in partnership with TESDA.
“The participants may enroll any of the following courses: driving lessons, motorcycle repair and maintenance, small engine and farm implements maintenance, basic electricity, driving and auto troubleshooting. Other participants may also enroll courses in therapeutic massage, bread and pastry making, meat or food processing, and beauty care,” he said.
Ferrer said the implementation of the skills training program will start next month, as TESDA and the provincial government are still finalizing some details with regards to the execution of the program.
Orbos, who hailed from this town, said in a speech during the project launching on Oct. 10 here that his love for Pangasinan and his fellow Pangasinenses and other citizens, who are in need of employment, is his reason for coming up with this project.
Governor Amado Espino III commended the project, as he urged his provincemates to take this opportunity that could give them a better future.
Meanwhile, certificates of entitlement were awarded to Agno, Anda, Bani, Bolinao, Sual, Infanta, Burgos, Dasol, Mabini and Alaminos City, which comprise the 1st District of the province. (Hilda Austria/PNA)
