Pangasinan youth urged to join waste management efforts

DAGUPAN CITY — The provincial government of Pangasinan and the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Provincial Federation urged the youth to join the province’s waste management efforts through the launch of ‘Kalinisan Karaban’ next month.

“This program will include the participation of all youths in Pangasinan in order to help our province in its waste management,” SK Provincial Federation president Jerome Espino said in an interview on Tuesday.

Espino said the project also aims to make further use of discarded plastic products.

“Governor Amado Espino III is set to speak with the SK Municipal or City Federation presidents to plot the project’s action plan on November 3-4. This will be a priority project of the SK in the province,” he .said

Espino added that the provincial government is set to procure six service vehicles – one for each congressional district — to collect plastic products.

“Plastic products, which cannot be sold to junk shops, will be bartered for basic commodities, such as food, rice, or school supplies. Then, a schedule for collection (of plastic products) will be implemented, while the collected plastic products will be remodeled into bricks,” he said. (Ahikam Pasion/PNA)
