IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay –The provincial government has acquired an additional PHP300-million worth of heavy equipment to boost its capability to undertake infrastructure projects.
Gov. Wilter Yap Palma on Tuesday said all the 36 units of heavy equipment will be delivered completely next month, hoping the machinery would facilitate more economic developments in the province.
The newly-acquired Japan-made heavy equipment, which will augment the present fleet of equipment, consisted of the following: four units of grader; four units of truck-pad excavator; four units of road-roller; four units of payloader; and 20 units of six-wheeler dump truck. These will be delivered in batches.
The first batch consisting of four units of grader arrived in the last week of September and second batch comprising of three units truck-pad excavator on the first week of this month.
Palma said the new heavy equipment are an essential addition to the existing fleet equipment of the Provincial Engineer’s Office (PEO) in undertaking construction as well as repair and rehabilitation of roads throughout this province.
PEO data showed that this province has existing 354 kilometers provincial roads. Of the total, 130 kilometers were already concreted.
“This equipment will be of big help in the road construction and rehabilitation throughout the province,” Palma said, stressing that various road projects are being implemented.
The old heavy equipment maintained by the PEO consisted of three units grader, a truck-pad excavator, a road-roller, two units payloader, one unit bulldozer, and 11 units six-wheeler dump truck, one prime mover truck and one water tanker.
