No expected damage from 2 Sultan Kudarat quakes: Phivolcs

MANILA — The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said Tuesday that it is not expecting any aftershock and damage from the two earthquakes that jolted Sultan Kudarat late Monday night.

A magnitude 4.9 quake of tectonic origin was recorded about 49 km. southwest of Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat at 10:49 p.m.

It had a depth of 1 km.

Intensity III was felt in Kalamansig and Lebak, while intensity I was reported in Tupi, South Cotabato.

A few minutes later, at about 10:54 p.m., a 4.5 magnitude quake was recorded 29 km. southwest of Kalamansig.

The quake, also of tectonic origin, had a depth of 8 km.

Intensity II was reported in Kalamansig and Lebak, Phivolcs said.
