DAGUPAN CITY — The Dagupan City Veterinary Office (CVO) has vaccinated some 9,500 pet animals in the city from January 1 to November 13 this year.

“These include dogs, cats, and many more. As long as they are being kept as pets,” City Veterinarian Dr. Daniel Paolo Garcia said in an interview on Wednesday.

Garcia said the city plans to vaccinate 500 more pets before the year ends, noting his office has ample supply of anti-rabies vaccines.

He encouraged owners to get their pets vaccinated to prevent potential problems in the future.

In 2017, the CVO vaccinated 9,500 pets.

Meanwhile, Garcia reminded the public not to let their pets roam outside their premises.

“The CVO is coordinating with the barangay council to assist us, because this is included in the Artikulo 21,” he said.

The Artikulo 21 is a set of ordinances being strictly enforced in the city, including the law against pet animals roaming around, especially dogs.

“We are also planning to raise the current PHP50 fine against violators in order to drastically lower the number of roaming animals in the city,” Garcia added.
