Comelec releases partial roster of party-lists, local candidates

MANILA — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Monday released the tentative list of party-list and local candidates for the May 2019 midterm polls.

The list of candidates for party-lists, governors, vice governors, provincial board members, mayors, vice mayors, and councilors have been posted at the poll body website (http://www.comelec.gov.ph/?r=2019NLE/ListsOfCandidates).

The preliminary list of senatorial candidates are not yet available as of press time.

“The tentative list of candidates will be posted for purposes of checking the name to appear on the official ballot,” the poll body said, citing Comelec Resolution No. 10420.

“Aspirants are encouraged to check their names to appear on the official ballots,” the resolution added.

Included in the list of party-list candidates are 124 duly-registered groups, 33 with pending motions for reconsideration, five with pending petitions for registration, and 23 others.

Known party-lists in the tentative list are Abono, Butil, PBA, Senior Citizens, Acts-OFW, Gabriela, Magdalo, Akbayan, Bayan Muna, TUCP, Ako Bicol, CIBAC, Buhay, LPGMA.

The list was released more than a month since the end of the filing period for Certificates of Candidacy and Certificates of Nomination and Acceptance.

The Comelec said they will accept request for corrections on the name to appear on the official ballots until November 29.

The poll body is looking to start printing the official ballots in January 2019.
