LAOAG CITY–The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has vowed to put up a Rural Impact Sourcing (RIS) hub in Batac City to help local entrepreneurs develop their technical skills on web-based marketing of their products.

Emmy Lou Delfin, Officer-in-Charge, Division Chief of the DICT ICT Industry Development Bureau, in her visit to the province Monday, said the training hub primarily aims to develop ICT technical skills and creating ICT-enabled jobs in the province, as well as to promote local talent and businesses for inclusive growth.

Delfin even assured that the DICT would provide at least eight laptops complete with accessories for the RIS hub.

The Rural Impact Sourcing hub project will be in partnership with the state-run Mariano Marcos State University, Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte.

It was proposed to be established at the MMSU compound in Batac City, where interested talents could undergo a comprehensive technical training, focused on branding for companies, products, and services, and business blogging among others.

In view of this, members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Ilocos Norte are now drafting an appropriate resolution backing the move.

The Ilocos Norte government and MMSU are expected to provide the lot and other technical support for the RIS hub.
