DavOcc blasts Basilan, 86-61

MANILA — Davao Occidental went on a road rage to romp Basilan, 86-61, in the latter’s first Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League game at the New Lamitan City Gymnasium on Saturday night.

As their scoring began to pick up in the final half-hour, the Tigers slowly pulled away from the Steel as they cruised to 10th straight win.

Mark Yee went 9-of-13 from the field to put up 22 points with 14 rebounds, one assist, one steal, and two blocks for DavOcc, which moved up to 12-3, opening a one-and-a-half-game lead for first place in the Southern Division.

Leo Najorda added 14 points, seven rebounds, and one steal, while Joseph Terso chipped in 10 points, four rebounds, five assists, and two steals.

Jojo Tangkay made 14 markers, four rebounds, and six steals for Basilan, which fell to 4-10.
