‘Tomas’ re-enters PH

By Lily Ramos – PNA News

MANILA—Severe tropical storm “Tomas” (international name “Man-yi”) has slightly weakened as it re-entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility Monday morning.

In its 4 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said “Tomas” is not expected to make landfall and has no direct effect on any part of the country.

“Tomas” was last observed at 1,410 kilometers east of Aparri, Cagayan with maximum sustained winds of 110 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 135 kph.

Sea travels will be risky on the northern seaboard of Northern Luzon and the eastern Luzon and the Visayas due to very rough seas associated with the surge of the northeast monsoon.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon is affecting northern Luzon.

Ilocos, Cordillera and Cagayan Valley regions would have partly cloudy skies with isolated light rains caused by the northeast monsoon.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country would have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

Temperature in Metro Manila ranges from 23-32 degrees Celsius; Tuguegarao City 23-31; Baguio City 14-24; Metro Cebu 25-31; and Metro Davao 24-33.
