LAOAG CITY—The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) opened two more Negosyo Centers in the towns of Bangui and Nueva Era on Thursday.

According to Maricor Racela, DTI event coordinator in the province, the 13th and 14th Negosyo Centers in the province are expected to boost economic growth and development among business stakeholders.

On Wednesday, local officials and residents of Paoay witnessed the launching of their own Negosyo Center located at the Paoay Civic Center in Barangay Veronica.

Other Negosyo Centers in the province are located in Laoag, Batac, Burgos, Bacarra, San Nicolas, Badoc, Dingras, Piddig, Banna, Solsona and Vintar.

Led by DTI Regional Director Florante Leal, separate programs and ribbon-cutting ceremonies were conducted in Bangui and Nueva Era Thursday.

As part of the department’s aim “to bring government services closer to its people”, more Negosyo Centers are being put up to empower potential and small and medium entrepreneurs to excel in business.

Under the Go Negosyo Act, micro, small and medium enterprises will have a better ease of doing business when a Negosyo Center is just within their reach.

Instead of going to the nearest DTI office, the center features a one-stop-shop for business enthusiasts to process their business registration, seek business advisory services, provide business information and advocacy; and monitoring and evaluation of business-process improvement.

Once a Negosyo Center is in place in a certain community, a local business person may no longer need to line up or go to the nearest DTI office to have his/her business registered and wait for days to process the registration process.

The DTI hopes to inaugurate 100 Negosyo Centers in the country within the end of this year.
