Pacquiao-Horn rematch to be held in Manila, DOT official confirms

Quezon City, August 21, 2017 — After a long queue of speculations for the venue of the second mega fight of Manny Pacquiao and Jeff Horn, Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Wanda T. Teo confirmed on Tuesday that the scheduled battle between the two boxers will be held in the Philippines and will be tagged as ‘Battle of Manila’.

In an interview, Teo said that the decision was made after Eric Pineda personally talked to her for the collaboration of Team Pacquiao and the Tourism department about the upcoming boxing event.

Pineda, the business manager of Pacquiao mentioned to Teo that even the Brisbane bid for a higher offer, Pacquiao stressed and pushed the rematch to be carried in Manila because of the good weather condition in the country.

The DOT Secretary also added that agency will not spend any amount for the forthcoming duel, instead, the sponsors of the two fighters will be the source of fund for their destined match.

The ‘Battle of Manila’ will take place at the Philippine Arena in Sta. Maria, Bulacan on December this year. (Win Peñano – PTV News/ with reports from Cleizl Pardilla)
