SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), in partnership with the provincial government here, will release some PHP4.7-million worth of livelihood projects to indigent Antiqueños and those who belong to the informal sector.

Myra Pe, manager of the Provincial Employment Service Office, said in an interview Thursday that the project under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Program (DILEEP) will be distributed by middle of December.

“The recipients of the livelihood projects are the sugar migrants, farmers, and LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) who belong to the informal sector,” she said, noting that 179 of them will receive aid to start a sari-sari store, 21 to start a salon, and 87 to engage in rice trading.

The release of rice trading projects, however, will be held later as the documents are still being processed.

Each of the livelihood project is worth PHP17,000. For the sari-sari store, grocery items will be given to recipients for selling, such as canned sardines and laundry soap.

Salon recipients will receive scissors, blowers and other things used in hairdressing.

Well-milled rice will be distributed to the recipients of the rice trading project.

DOLE-Antique Director Melisa Navarra said in an earlier interview that the DILEEP is part of their regular program aimed at uplifting the livelihood of Antiqueños.
