ORION, Bataan — The Catholic Church quietly works and extends assistance to the poor, Bishop Ruperto Santos of the Diocese of Balanga said here on Thursday.

The prelate was in this coastal town where the Bataan Association of Catholic Schools gave school supplies, shoes and slippers to 120 children from five public elementary schools.

“Taon-taon tuwing kapaskuhan, ang mga Catholic schools sa Bataan, lalo na ang mga paaralan sa ilalim ng Diocese of Balanga, ay nagbibigay ng regalo sa mga bata sa public schools tulad ngayon sa Orion (Annually, every Christmas, the Catholic schools in Bataan, especially those under the Diocese of Balanga, give gifts to children in public schools, like now here in Orion),” Santos said.

He said that on Dec. 9, 10 and 12, the diocese will distribute 600 slippers to public school children in Balanga City.

Aside from giving gifts, seminarians and children from Catholic schools entertained the children from public schools through dance and song numbers.
