MANILA — Davao Occidental Tigers scored its 12th straight win in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) Datu Cup after mauling Bacoor City Strikers on the road, 69-50, on Thursday night.

The Tigers silenced the STRIKE Gymnasium in Bacoor after opening a 23-11 lead against the Strikers late in the first quarter before limiting them to just eight points in the second quarter and 13 in each of the last two periods for the rout.

Mark Yee made 17 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, one steal, and one block for DavaoOcc, which widened its gap over Muntinlupa for first place in the Southern Division to 3.5 games, going up to 15-3.

Leo Najorda added 16 points and six rebounds, while Billy Robles put up 10 points, three rebounds, four assists, and one steal.

The team is now back-to-back wins away from matching the league record for the longest winning streak made by Bataan at 14. The said streak was snapped on Monday night after Bataan lost at home to San Juan, opening a chance for DavaoOcc to break the record.

Gab Banal needed 17 shots to get 11 points alongside seven rebounds, two assists, and one steal for Bacoor City, which fell to a tie with Laguna for sixth place in the South at 8-10.
