IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay — The provincial government has released some PHP11.4 million in annual cash incentive for the 2,851 workers serving in its different barangays.

Gov. Wilter Palma led Tuesday’s distribution of the cash incentive to the barangay workers, whom he described as the unsung heroes.

Of the 2,851 beneficiaries, 586 are daycare workers (DCW), 691 barangay nutrition scholars (BNS), and 1,574 barangay health workers (BHS). Each received a PHP4,000-annual cash incentive.

“You suffered a lot. You went to far-flung areas of your barangay rain or shine just to serve your community,” Palma said as he lauded them for sacrifice and diligent delivery of basic health and nutrition services even in the remote areas of this province.

“I am happy to see you not just to receive the incentives but as companions to (my) journey (in government service,” he added.

This province has been conferred the Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition (CROWN) award by the Department of Health (DOH),  as a result of the excellent delivery of health and nutrition services by its BNS and BHS.

Meanwhile, Palma pledged to increase from PHP4,000 to PHP10,000 next year the cash incentive of each BNS and BHS in recognition of their excellent efforts in the delivery of services.
