Creation of Department of Housing and Urban Development discussed in 2nd LEDAC meeting

To focus providing the housing backlog in the country, top government officials, led by President Rodrigo Duterte,  discussed in the second Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) meeting held in Malacañang on Tuesday the one of the proposed proposition under the Rightsizing Bill which will be the creation of Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The House Bill 5707, also known as the “Rightsizing the National Government Act,” is one of the six priority measures of the President Rodrigo Duterte during his second State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 24, stating that the separate housing department must be envisioned to be more powerful and effective than the current Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council.

The passage of the bill will further ensure the long term sustainability of the government service through resource mobilization and cost effective public expenditure management.
