CIDG files murder raps vs 2 cops

ZAMBOANGA CITY — The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) filed criminal charges against two policemen for the killing of a soldier in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, a police official said Wednesday.

Chief Insp. Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) information officer, said the case of murder was filed on Tuesday before the Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Prosecutor’s Office.

Galvez named the policemen-respondents as PO2 Ronald Zeros and PO1 Michael Bulanday, both of Aurora Municipal Police Station, Zamboanga Del Sur.

They were charged over the killing of Cpl. Rodilo Bartolome on August 23 in Barangay Monte Alegre in Aurora town.

Bartolome was assigned with the Army’s 53rd Infantry Battalion and presently detailed in embattled city of Marawi since May.

He just disembarked from a passenger bus on his way to visit his family in Barangay Kanipay, Midsalip, Zamboanga del Sur when he was killed.

The two policemen were checking the reported presence of a gunman when they allegedly shot Bartolome, who was clad in civilian clothes. (TPGJR/PNA)
