DUMAGUETE CITY – The provincial director of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Negros Oriental on Tuesday reassured to continue current efforts to keep the peace in the province after Governor Roel Degamo approved his appointment a day earlier.
Senior Supt. Raul Tacaca, who previously served as acting provincial police director, got his appointment on Monday when the governor signed it during the annual New Year’s Call of the PNP on the provincial chief executive.
“Confirmation lang naman iyan at yung trabaho namin, dati na rin tayong gumagawa niyan (it’s just a confirmation but we have already been doing our jobs ever since),” he pointed out, when asked if he could do more now that he is a full-fledged provincial police director.
“Binibigay naming lahat ang aming kakayanan para sa pagpapanatili sa peace and order (we are giving our all to maintain peace and order),” Tacaca reassured.
According to him, the governor did not give any special directive after the confirmation, but Tacaca reassured that they will continue their efforts to curb criminality, especially on the government’s campaign against illegal drugs, and other programs concerning peace and order.
Tacaca was named acting provincial police director of Negros Oriental in May 2018 in lieu of Sr. Supt. Edwin Portento, who was given a new assignment.
Gov. Degamo said during the New Year’s Call that he was impressed with the performance of Tacaca in the few months he had served in the province, and so he chose him to be the next provincial police director of Negros Oriental.
