AFP briefed on ‘AmBisyon Natin 2040’

MANILA — Military and civilian members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) were briefed on “AmBisyon Natin 2040” on Wednesday.

“AmBisyon Natin 2040”, the country’s model for development and strategic planning, aims to uplift the quality of life of Filipinos by enhancing the social fabric, addressing inequality, and increasing the growth potential of Filipino communities.

AFP public affairs office chief Col. Noel Detoyato said National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) undersecretary Rosemarie Edillon gave officers, enlisted personnel, and civilian personnel a walkthrough of the long-term plan and guided them on the AFP’s role in vision.

He added that “AmBisyon Natin 2040” was the highlight of the governance forum-lecture series organized by the Office for Strategic Studies and Strategy Management.

It is also seen as the government’s answer to socio-economic problems that give credence to violent extremist narratives such as those propagated by the Communist Party of the Philippines and Islamic State-inspired groups.

“We can look at AmBisyon as our country’s solution to the perpetrators of the armed conflict–groups like the New People’s Army, the Abu Sayyaf, and Maute–who exploit the socio-economic vulnerability of our far-flung communities,” Detoyato said. (Priam Nepomuceno/PNA)
