AFP uses all assets to help deliver medical supplies

National Action Plan against COVID-19 Chief Implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez has stated that the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), in its full strength, helps in delivering medical supplies nationwide.

“Upang masiguro naman na ang lahat po ng suportang medikal ay makarating sa ating frontliners sa bawat sulok ng bansa, ang lahat ng air, sea, at land transportation assets ng ating sandatahang lakas ay naka-deploy na, kasama po ang assets ng ating DOTR (To ensure that medical supplies are delivered to our frontliners nationwide, all air, sea, and land transportation assets of the AFP are deployed, along with the assets of the DoTr).” Sec. Galvez has revealed.

The Philippine Air Force (PAF) will include the aircraft C-130 to strengthen the hauling capacity for personal protective equipment (PPEs) while the ships of the Philippine Navy (PN) are also being deployed to acquire PPEs given to the Philippines. The BRP Ramon Alcaraz and BRP Davao Del Sur are on their way to India for the PPEs.

The said ships from Oman were initially used for the repatriation of Filipinos in the midst of the developing tension in the Middle East. “During the mission, the 400-man contingent led by Marine Colonel Noel Beleran made its historic milestone for the Navy, these include the historic sail to the Indian Ocean by PN ships that validates its status as a Navy that is now capable in sustaining operations across open oceans.”

Meanwhile, the logistic vessel of the BRP Bacolod City is going to China to obtain over 23,000 boxes of PPES that have been bought by the government from China last March.
