AFPSLAI donates gym equipment to DND

MANILA — Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Delfin Lorenzana on Monday thanked the Armed Forces and Police Savings and Loans Association, Inc. (AFPSLAI) for donating gym equipment which can be used by military and civilian personnel in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.

“We are honored that you have chosen us as the beneficiary of your corporate philanthropic initiatives to support and promote the health of our soldiers and civilian community here at the DND and the AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines),” he said.

The gym equipment consists of leg curl machine, leg extension machine, leg press machine, abdominal machine, flat pro bench, incline fly bench, Olympic flat machine, shoulder press bench, Olympic incline bench, and Olympic decline bench.

Lorenzana said these items will beef up the fitness facility in Camp Aguinaldo and will greatly contribute to the culture of fitness within the “One Defense Team”.

“It is a well-known fact that exercise contributes much to our overall health, physically, mentally, and emotionally. We hope that this equipment will help you keep fit and have a healthy lifestyle, give you the work — life balance that you need and enhance your productivity” AFPSLAI chief executive officer, (retired) Maj. Gen. Emeraldo C. Magnaye said.

He added that the donation is their way of expressing gratitude to the DND for its support and cooperation.

Lorenzana encouraged all members of the “One Defense Team” to take advantage of the gym equipment and facility, citing the positive effects of exercise to one’s physical and mental health.

“Fit bodies and minds allow us to withstand the rigors and stresses of our jobs, wherever and whenever we are called to serve,” he added.(Priam Nepomuceno/PNA)
