Air operations in Manila, nearby provinces restricted beginning Nov. 9 for ASEAN summit

Air operations in Manila and nearby provinces will be restricted for all types of aircrafts beginning November 9, 2017 as part of the maximum security preparations for the approaching 31st Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit.

Officer-in-Charge Catalino S. Cuy of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Chairman of the Committee on Security, Peace and Order, Emergency Preparedness and Response (CSPOEPR) says that a No Fly Zone is set on the following dates and times in the following areas:

Cuy also announces that No Drone Operations is set over Clark in Pampanga and Rizal Park in Manila on November 9 to 17 for all types of drones within 40 nautical miles.

Meanwhile, Sangley Airport in Cavite, Plaridel Airport in Bulacan, and Subic International Airport in Olongapo will be closed to civilian aircraft operations on November 9 to 15 between 6AM to 5 PM.

On the other hand, a No Landing restriction will be implemented on Runway 13 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on November 12 to 15 from 6AM to 5 PM. Only departure flights will be allowed at this runway during this period. A No Take-Off restriction will also be enforced on Runway 31 on the same dates.

“We are covering all the bases to ensure the safety and security of our ASEAN delegates including their mobility and transfer from one place to another,” Cuy says.

“We appeal to all our kababayans and the business community who will be affected by the restrictions, please bear with us in the next few days,” he adds.

Above-mentioned restrictions will be closely monitored by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), one of the member agencies of the CSPOEPR which is tasked to oversee the safety and security preparations for the ASEAN Summit. (DILG-PR)
