Albay suspends classes due to transport strike on Oct. 16

LEGAZPI CITY —  The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) suspended classes in all levels, both in private and public schools in the province on Tuesday, Oct. 16, as a counter measure to the anticipated inconvenience that would be caused by a day-long transport strike.

“The Concerned Drivers and Operators (Condor-Piston)-Bicol announced their collective decisions of holding transport strike. PDRRMC-Albay therefore orders a one-day province-wide suspension of classes in all levels, both in private and public schools,” read an advisory from the council signed by Albay Governor Al Francis Bichara as chairman.

Mayors Herbie Aguas of Sto. Domingo and Carlwyn Baldo of Daraga also ordered the suspension of classes in all levels in their areas.

The priest-administered University of Santo Tomas-Legazpi (UST-Legazpi) likewise announced suspensions of both work and classes in all levels.

“All final examinations in the tertiary level scheduled on Tuesday will be conducted on Thursday, (Oct. 18),” a university advisory said.
