Albayalde steps down as PNP Chief

Philippine National Police Chief PGen. Oscar Albayalde has stepped down form the top post. His resignation takes effect today. Taking his stead as officer-in-charge is PNP Deputy Chief for Administration Lt. Gen. Archie Gamboa which took place through a simple ceremony led by the Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Ano. As OIC, Gamboa’s powers are limited. The National Polce Commission shall be issuing a resolution on his functions as interim leader of the force. Gamboa expressed his trust for his mistah and pledged to continue the work that Albayalde has started.

The Senate recently conducted an investigation on the anomalous 2013 anti-illegal drugs operation in Pampanga which happened under Albayalde’s watch as then Provincial Director. The former police chief will still be a member of the PNP until his retirement on 08 November 2019.
